Hazardous area classification, explained
Zones, divisions, gas groups and temperature classes decide which equipment may sit in a classified area. IP and NEMA ratings answer a different question.
Manipulated Variable (MV)
Controller output to the process.
Signal the controller adjusts to move the process: valve position, drive speed, heater duty. MV limits, rate-of-change clamps, and bumpless transfer keep moves safe.
